About
Why this blog exists
Microplastics are in the news a lot, but the headline and the finding in the paper often say different things. This blog tries to close that gap. Here I:
- summarise new studies: what was done, what was found and where the limits are;
- explain measurement methods in enough detail to judge whether a result is reliable;
- cover the basics in plain language for readers new to the subject;
- summarise regulation and international negotiations, with sources.
Posts are published in English and Turkish.
Who writes it
An academic who works on microplastics.
Editorial principles
Sources
Every scientific statement rests on a study or official document listed in the references at the end of the post, linked to the original (by DOI) wherever possible. If only the abstract or a secondary account of a source was available, the post says so.
Types of post
Each post is an explainer, a study summary or a methods note. Findings come with their sources.
Corrections
When an error is found, the post is corrected, the update date changes, and a short note at the end says what was changed. Mistakes are not quietly deleted. If you spot one, please get in touch via the Contact page.
